Delegate effectively:
- Choose the task wisely:
- Tasks which others can do. Perhaps better, sooner and cheaper
- Routine and administrative
- Meetings
- Tasks which develop the individual
- Delegate the complete task where possible, this is much more rewarding to the individual
- Choose the person:
- Ability
- Experience
- Training requirement
- Reliability
- Communicate effectively:
- Define what is needed
- Explain why it is needed
- When it is needed by
- Identify milestones and progress review dates
- Ensure understanding and commitment
- Review progress
- Train and allow for mistakes
- Give credit
